Can I Take My Suitcase on Board of Li River Cruise

monique ( curacao ) July 15,2015

What possibilities are there for a very luxury li river cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo with pick-up from the hotel. No return. Can we take our suitcases on board?
with regards, Monique

Sophie Huang( TCT Sales Representative ) July 15,2015

Sophie Huang

Hi, Monique,

Thank you very much for your attention. Well noted that you are interested in the Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo.

Please kindly be advised that it is possible to arrange a Li River cruise with pick-up from the hotel and transfer to pier for you to check in the cruise in the morning.

The Li River cruise is based on environmental protection boat with 2 decks.

It is ok to take your luggage on board if you do not mind carrying you luggage climbing the steps at the pier in Guilin and Yangshuo. As you know, there are often many steps at the piers when you check in or leave the the boat.

After getting on board, you could find a place to put your luggage, but not near to your seat as there isn't enough space under your seat or any luggage rank above your seat. You could check with the staff and see where you could put your luggage.

Hi, Monique, could you please let me know below information so that we could offer you the price for cruise with pick up from centrally located Guilin hotel.

1. When will you hope to take the cruise?

2. Which hotel will you stay in when you are in Guilin?

3. How many of you will travel together?

It make the transportation between both cities more convenient. It takes only 3 hours by high speed train from Guangzhou to Guilin. There are more than 20 trains from 07:30-20:00 each day. The high speed train is from Guangzhou South Railway Station(广州火车南站) to Guilin North Railway Station(桂林火车北站).The train fare is not expensive. It is only RMB137.5 per person for economy class seat.

Travel to Guilin from Hong Kong

Lyn Kelly ( Australia ) May 11,2015

We intend to go from Hong Kong to Guilin and Yangshuo in September for five days. We are a couple from Australia, in our 70s and do not want too much walking if it can be avoided.
Travel: Should we fly from HK to Guilin or take the ferry to Shenzhen and fly from there? After our stay we have to get to Singapore - what is the best way to get there from Guilin?
Staying: Should we spend 2 nights in Guilin and 3 in Yangshuo, or vice versa?
What are the best things to do in each? We would like to see some small villages away from the tourist crush if that is possible. Any advice re private guide and driver?

Lily( TCT Sales Representative ) May 12,2015

Lily
Hi, Lyn,
Thank you very much for your attention with such detailed questions.
Well noted that you are 2 seniors and hope to travel to Guilin from Hong Kong in this September. We are delighted to answer your questions as below,

►How to travel to Guilin from Hong Kong?
♦By direct flight
There is a flight by Dragon Air from Hong Kong to Guilin or v.v. each day. The flight number is KA702, departing from Hong Kong at 14:15. It takes about 1.5 hours to fly between 2 cities, but it requests tourist to arrive at airport at least 2 hours prior to the departure time.

This is the most convenient and direct way to travel from Hong Kong to Guilin. Most passengers choose this way. You do not need take ferry to Shenzhen first, then fly from Shenzhen to Guilin.. If you take ferry to Shenzhen first, then fly from Shenzhen to Guilin, it might be helpful to reduce a bit on transportation, but it is not convenient as tourists need to transfer from ferry terminal in Shenzhen to Shenzhen airport. It is not very suitable for seniors. Direct flight is better for seniors as old people do not need to worry too much after check in the flight.

♦By Train
To be honest, there isn’t any direct train from Hong Kong to Guilin. If tourists hope to travel to Guilin by train, they need to travel to Shenzhen first from Hong Kong by train. Then transfer from Luohu Customs to Shenzhen North Railway Station to take the high speed train from Shenzhen to Guilin. It is the most economy way to travel to Guilin from Hong Kong, but not the most convenient way. I think it is more suitable for those young bag packers.
There are 3 bullet trains each day from Shenzhen to Guilin. They are at 07:20, 11:48 and 16:44. The duration is around 3.5 hours. Top China Travel could arrange the transfer and train ticket booking in Shenzhen.

►How to travel to Singapore from Guilin?
There isn’t any direct flight between Guilin and Singapore. Therefore, tourists need to travel to other cities to transit flight to Singapore. The nearest city to transit a flight to Singapore is Guangzhou. The best air flights from Guilin to Singapore are as below,
Flight No CZ3231 Guilin-Guangzhou 0810-0915
Flight No CZ3039 Guangzhou-Singapore 1245-1650

►How to arrange a Guilin and Yangshuo tour if we have 5 days?
We suggest you spend 3 nights in Guilin and one night in Yangshuo. It will be better to arrange a more smooth tour. It will be also more convenient and comfortable. We suggest you stay in a hotel at the bank of the lakes in Guilin or near to the park in Guilin. In this case, you could have a walk in your leisure time. It is more leisure and you could also have chance to see many local seniors dancing at the bank of the lake or in the park. In Yangshuo, if do not like to stay in the downtown, we suggest you stay in a bantique hotel in the countryside of Yangshuo. It is peaceful and you will have a different experience.

►What can I do when I travel to Guilin in September?
When you travel to Guilin in September, the best things to do in Guilin are as below,
♦One day trip to Longji Terrace Fields--- The best season to Longji Terrace Fields is September to the middle of October as the rice is going to harvest in September. They are turning to yellow. It will be a good view. Although the terrace fields are in mountainous area, it is not recommendable for senior. Since our tour is on private basis, our private guide can offer you careful service. Therefore, I do suggest you take this tour in the right season.

♦One day trip to take cruise boat from Guilin to Yangshuo--- This is the highlight tour in Guilin. Tourist could view the essence part of Li River by the cruise. It is leisure and tourist do not need to walk too much. It is really suitable for seniors.
Countryside tour in Yangshuo by private car with a farmer house visit--- Tourist could enjoy the beautiful countryside view in Yangshuo along Yulong river and have a communication with locals. You could also choose to stay one night in the bantique house in the countryside.

♦Visit to the symbol of Guilin and one karst cave in Guilin--- The symbol of Guilin is the Elephant Trunk Hill, which is at the bank of Li River in the city of Guilin. Guilin’s hills and caves are all with unparalleled karst terrain. Karst cave is one of the mush-seeing scenery in Guilin.

Besides, we also suggest Four Lakes Night Cruise in Guilin as an optional activity. It depends on your interests and time.

►Is there any small villages nearby Guilin away from tourism crush?
Yes, there are some. I suggest you visit to Jiuwu in Lingchuan County, which is not far from Guilin. Or you could also visit to Langzi Old Village near to Yangshuo. Both are worth to visit and away from tourism crush so far.

Hope the above is clear and helpful. Please read more Guilin tours from our website.

Travel to Guilin around Christmas

Andrew ( Canada ) May 05,2015

Hi i am planning to be in guilin around Christmas, is it a good time to visit the rice terraces, caves or rafting?

Sophie Huang( TCT Sales Representative ) May 05,2015

Sophie Huang
Hi, Andrew,

Thank you very much for your attention with questions as below,
Hi i am planning to be in guilin around Christmas, is it a good time to visit the rice terraces, caves or rafting?

Well noted that you plan to visit Guilin around Christmas this year and you are interested in rice terraces, caves and rafting, but hope to know whether it is a good time to visit the above things. Please be advised as below,

Best Time to visit Longji Terrace
To honest, the time around Christmas is not a good time to visit Longji Terrace Fields. The best time to visit the Terrace Fields in Guilin is from April to middle of October. As the fields starts to be irrigated and plowed from April when the spring is coming, it is a good time for photography of due to the good light and reflection in the fields. October is the rice harvest season. After the middle of October, all the rice is harvested from the fields. Therefore, the view will be good after the harvest time. What tourists could see is the empty fields and minority villages. It depends on your interests. If you prefer minority village and customs, you could include Longji Terrace Fields.

►Time to visit caves in Guilin
The caves in Guilin are suitable to visit all year round. In winter, it is warm in the cave. In Summer, it is cool in the cave. But we suggest you visit only one cave. It is enough as all the caves are almost the same. Therefore, you could choose visit Reed Flute Cave in Guilin, or Silver Cave in Yangshuo or Crown Cave near to Yangdi along Li River. All of them are the representative caves in Guilin. If you choose Crown Cave, it is a bit far from the city and it is not very good to arrange the tour. Besides, it will make the tour cost higher. Suggest you choose one from the former two.

►The good time to take bamboo rafting in Guilin
We suggest our tourists take bamboo rafting in Guilin from the end of March to the middle of November according to the local weather condition. If it is arranged in winter, it is a bit cold, although it also can be aranged. If you travel to Guilin in winter, suggest take Li River cruise by large boat from Guilin to Yangshuo, but not the bamboo rafting from Yangdi to Xingping. If you do hope to take bamboo rafting, you could try a short-distance rafting along Yulong River as it rafts more slowly and the countryside view of Yangshuo along Yulong River is really charming.

Hope the above is clear and helpful.
Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact with us.

Delighted to recommend you some Guilin tour packages

Zhangjiajie VS Guilin, Which is better to Visit

Lynne ( Singapore ) May 05,2015

Hi. Which should it be Guilin or Zhangjiajie in early December? I read it would be very foggy and cold in Zhangjiajie in December. Is Guilin misty too? We will be having a business trip in Guangzhou and hope to take a side trip. I was thinking of Zhangjiajie and Guilin, but worry about the weather. Could you please tell me where is better to visit?

Sophie Huang( TCT Sales Representative ) May 05,2015

Sophie Huang
Dear Lynne,

Greetings from Sophie, Top China Travel!
Thanks for your questions.

At first, please kindly be advised the best time to visit Zhangjiajie and Guilin as below,
1. Best time to travel in Zhangajiajie: April to October, when it is warm enough. The national forest is green with lush trees in spring and summer, colorful in autumn. Besides, there are more water in Golden Whip Stream as well as some lakes in Zhangjiejia. It is easy to see the beautiful scenery. July and August are rainy season in Zhangjiajie, do not forget to bring an umbrella when you pack for traveling to Zhangjiajie.

2. Best season to visit Guilin: End of March to early November. Guilin’ spring is warm with dizzy sometimes, but it is the best time for Guilin tour as it is easy to see the best Guilin view. June and July are the rainy season in Guilin, but not rain every day. So it is also suitable for traveling to Guilin. September and October is Guilin’s autumn, where tourists could see golden rice terrace in Longsheng, cool and less rain for Guilin and Yangshuo trip.

However, December is the low season for traveling in China as it goes into winter. I went to Zhangjiajie in middle of November before. The view is really not good. It became cold from November. When I visited it, it was foggy on the mountains of Zhangjiajie. At night, it snowed. If you could meet snow, it is also good to visit Zhangjiajie even though it might be very cold, because it will be a quite different experience. The snow view on the mountain is also beautiful.

For Guilin, the average temperature in Guilin in December is about 7 ℃-12 ℃. There are less rain and few tourists in this season. If you visit to Guilin in December, it is ok. Meanwhile, the hotel rate and internal transportation will be cheaper than high and shoulder season. As the location in South China, Guilin is suitable to visit through the whole year if it does not rain for a long time.

Compared to Zhangjiajie, Guilin is better to visit in winter as it is less influenced by weather. Considering the transportation from Guangzhou, Guilin is nearer and has more flights each days. Besides, there is 2 overnight trains from Guangzhou to Guilin every day. From the end of December of 2014, the high speed train between Guangzhou and Guilin is opened up.

Hope the above is clear and helpful. I am delighted to recommend you some Guilin tour as below for your reference,

4 Days Classic Guilin Li River Tour

Destination:
Li River, Seven Star Park, Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill

5 Days Guilin City & Countryside Tour

When is Suitable to visit Longji Rice Terraces

Kristina ( Germany ) March 22,2015

We plan to spend a few days in Guilin during the last week of October 2015. I've read that the Longji Rice Terraces will have been harvested by then, so will it be worth while to take that tour? Thanks in advance!

Sophie Huang( TCT Sales Representative ) March 22,2015

Sophie Huang
Hi, Kristina,

Thanks a lot for your questsions.
Well noted that you are planning to visit Guilin for a few days at end of October and hope to include Longji Rice Terraces into your tour plan.

At first, I would like to introduce you the suitable time to visti Longji Terrace Fields.

As Longji Terrace Fields are in a minority area. When tourists visit there, they not only enjoy the beautiful natural view, but also the minority culture. Therefore, on this point, Longji Terraces are suitable for visit all the year round.

If you prefer to the natural view, It is better to visit Longji Terrace Fields from April to October.
In spring, it goes warm and everything become green. The locals start to water the fields and till fields from April 15th according to Chinese traditional canlendar, which might be in May according to Gregorian calendar. It is also a good time for photographer to take some good pictures.

In Summer(June, July, August), rice shoots grow green and blossom. Although it is not a good season for photography, it is suitable for tour.

In Autumn(September, October), the rice becomes golden and is waiting for harvest. When you look around from the high spot of the hill, you will find the terraces are yellow, which is very beautiful and majestic. Therefore, it can be called the best time to visit. The harvest at Longji will be finished in the middle or the end of October.

After that, it will seem a bit desolate. Therefore, we genereally do not suggest our clients to visit after harvest.

If your travel time is flexiable, I suggest you visit to Longji Terraces earlier, such as the end of September or the beginning of October. I am delighted to recommend our 5 Days Guilin Natural View and Minority Culture Tour to you.

Hope the above is clear and helpful.

Best regards

Sophie Huang.

Sophie Huang( TCT Sales Representative ) March 05,2015

Sophie Huang
Hi, Radiah,

Thank you very much for your enquiry.

Well noted that you are asking for a 5 days 4 nights Guilin tour for a group of 10 elderly people and the group is from Malaysia.
It is a great choice for senior people to travel to Guilin, because Guilin is a leisure city with wonderful natural view.

The best time for old people to travel in Guilin should be from the middle of March to the end of May or from September to the middle of November. The weather in these two period is the best in Guilin, warm, less rainy. It will be suitalbe and comfortable for seniors.

What to do when elderly people visit to Guilin?
►Leisure and Beautiful City tour
Reed Flute Cave is a must-seeing spot in Guilin, which is the representative of Guilin Karst landform. But when elderly people visit this case, they need to be more careful with the steps in the cave. Besides, if passenger is really too old to walk long, there is a kind of sedan chair service in the cave. It will make senior people's cave visit easier.

Elephant Trunk Hill Park is the symbol of Guilin. Seven Star Park or Zizhou Park are all leisure city park, where there are many locals. Elderly passenger could choose one into the tour itinerary and it is a chance to communicate with locals.

Two Rivers and Four Lakes Water System Cruise, on which passenger could have overall view of Guilin. We suggest you to take night cruise as the pretty view with shining lights will be unforgetable.

►Classic and Highlight Li River Cruise

Li River is the mother river of Guilin. Li River Cruise from Zhujiang Pier to Yangshuo is the highlight of Guilin tour, which will make you walking in a landscape painting.

►Peaceful and Leisure Countryside Tour in Yangshuo
Passenger could take our private car to visit the countryside of Yangshuo, Big Banyan Tree, Moon Hill and local family visit. For passenger who is younger than 70, they could take a bamboo rafting along Yulong River, which is also a must-doing thing in Yangshuo.

The Best Way from Guilin to Zhangjiajie

Peter ( Singapore ) August 07,2014

What is the best way: train, plan, or train+bus from Guilin to Zhangjiajie? Looks like a headache to cover this route. I would like a cheap option. Are there some cheep flights?

Sophie Huang( TCT Sales Representative ) August 07,2014

Sophie Huang
Dear Peter,

Greetings!
To be honest, the best way will not be the cheap option. Cheap option often has more troublesome thing, but the best way will let you feel more comfortable.

At first, please kindly be advised that there are only a few cities who have flights to Zhangjiajie, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xian, ect. And most flights to Zhangjiajie are at late afternoon or early night. The flights to Zhangjiajie will become less in low season. Therefore, you prefer to fly to Zhangjiajie from Guilin, you will need to fly from Guilin to the nearest city Guangzhou to change a flight to Zhangjiajie. I suggest you take the morning flight CZ3231 0800/0855 to Guangzhou, then change CZ3381 1240/1415 from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie. In this case, you will feel more comfortable. This is the best way, but also the most expensive way.

The 2nd scheme is by train. There isn’t direct train from Guilin to Zhangjiajie also. There is an overnight train starting from Nanning ( the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region) from Zhangjiajie, which has a stop at Liuzhou, which is the nearest stop to Guilin. Therefore, You will need to take the afternoon bullet train from Guilin to Liuzhou first. Then change the night train at around 20:50-21:00 to Zhangjiajie. The train will arrive at Zhangjiajie Railway Station at around 08:30 next morning. Then it is easy for you arrange a tour to visit Tianmen Mountaion National Forest Park on the way from Zhangjiajie city to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park ( Wulingyuan).
The problem for this way is the difficulty of buying the train ticket from Liuzhou to Zhangjiajie, especially in high season. We suggest you arrange it though your agency in Guilin.

The 3rd way is to take the morning high speed train from Guilin to Changsha. You will arrive at Changsha South Railway Station around 14:00. Then you could try to see whether there is any bus from the South Railway Station Square to Zhangjiajie. If not, you will need to take taxi from South Railway Station to Changsha West Bus Station. Then take the bus to Zhangjiajie. It will need around 3.5-4 hours by taking bus from Changsha to Zhangjiajie.

Since Zhangjiajie is a bit remote and transportation connection with other cities is inconvenient, we do suggest you could contact with a reliable tour agency in Guilin to arrange it for you. It will be helpful and make your trip easier.

Hope the above is clear and helpful. If you need help with Zhangjiajie tour arrangement, please check http://www.topchinatravel.com/zhangjiajie/zhangjiajie-tours.htm

Lijiang VS Guilin, Which One is Better to Visit

Ella Kelly ( Australia ) July 24,2014

Hi, we are planning to visit China and I have a rough itinerary as Beijing-Xian-Chengdu-Yangtze River-Shanghai. Besides, I am also interested in Lijiang and Guilin. But my time is limited and only suitable for one place. Therefore, I wonder which one is better and worth to go.

Sophie Huang( TCT Sales Representative ) July 24,2014

Sophie Huang
Hi, Ella,

Greetings from Sophie, Top China Travel!
Thanks a lot for your questions. Please kindly be advised that Lijiang and Guilin have different view.

As Lijinag is at the junction between Yunnan province and Tibet, Lijiang is located at high altitude. Therefore, its scenery is spectacular with high mountain, snow mountain, blue sky and unique minority and culture.

However, Guilin is located in Southern China, which is famous for the small hills and beautiful waters. The scenery in Guilin is another kind of beauty. Besides, when you visit to Guilin, it better to take Li River Cruise and do Yangshuo countryside tour. If time is enough and season is suitable, you could choose to visit Longji Terrace Fields.

Both places are suitable for year round visit, but April to October is the best season for both cities. Besides, it is easy to find flight to connect both city to Yangtse River Cruise ( Chongqing)

When you decide which to visit, you should understand what you prefer to, spectacular view or soft scenery. Personally, I prefer the countryside view of Guilin.

Hope the above is clear and helpful.

How Long is Suitable for Guilin and Yangshuo Tour

Connie ( Malaysia ) June 27,2014

I would like to know if you have tour packages for Yangshou only from 29 Nov to 3 dec. Do you think is too long to stay in Yangshou. I do not want to visit Longi a Terrace because there is nothing much to see during that time. Will be visiting Guilin from 4 to 6 dec.

Li Bing( TCT Sales Representative ) July 01,2014

Li Bing
Hi, Connie,

Thank your much for your attention and enquiry.

If you travel and stay in Yangshuo from Nov 29 to Dec 3, there will be 5 days in Yangshuo. To be honest, it is really too long to stay in Yangshuo if you only travel to it. Yangshuo is a small county actually. Since your travel time is in winter, something related to water can not be done, such as bamboo rafting. Therefore, you could only choose to visit to the countryside by battery cart or by biking.  If you hope to be leisure in Yangshuo for experience, then I suggest you 1-2 days will be ok.

For Guilin, from you stay in Guilin from Dec 4 to Dec 6, you will have 3 days in Guilin. It is also long.

If you do not visit to Longji Terrace Fields, but only Guilin and Yangshuo, I suggest 4-5 days in winter is enough and it will really a leisure tour.

The tour can be arranged as,
Day01 Nov 29 Arrival Guilin, Stay in Guilin for leisure
Day02 Nov 30 Guilin-Yangshuo by Li River Cruise, West Street and overnight in Yangshuo
Day03 Dec 01 Yangshuo countryside tour and tour surrounding Yangshuo. Back to Guilin in the afternoon
Day04 Dec 02 Half Days Guilin Tour, Afternoon or night flight departure from Guilin.

Hope the above is clear and helpful.

Is it a good season to visit GuangXi in march? will it be cold? too crowded? When is the best time to visit Guilin. what are the must for me to visit if time is not a lot for us.
we will arrive on train from BJ to Guilin. prob stay for two night, then what do I need to go from there?

Sophie Huang( TCT Sales Representative ) June 26,2014

Sophie Huang
Dear Diana,

Thank you very much for your attention and questions.

Generally speaking, the best time to visit Guilin is from the late March to early November, although it is suitable for visit all the year round. But when people visit to Guilin, just avoid National Day Holiday as it will be crowded and the hotels will mark up the room rates. If you do not like wet wheather, just avoid the raining season from May to June.

March is coming to the early Spring in Southern China. Theefore, it is not too cold to travel in Guilin, Guangxi Province. Although it comes to early Spring, March is still in the low tourism season. It will not be crowded and hotels are also not expensive. Besides, Raining season has not yet come to Guilin in March. The water in Li River is at ordinary level and suitalbe for Li River Cruise or Bamboo Rafting. Therefore, it is a suitable time for traveling to Guilin.

As you have 2 nights in Guilin, I suggest you have one night in Guilin and one night in Yangshuo. You could have one day tour in Guilin and surroundings first, but depends on your train arrival time. Then take Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo with Yangshuo countryside tour and stay in Yangshuo. Then back to Guilin for departure.

It is not suitable for visit to Longji Terrace Fields as there is nothing in the fields. The Fields begin to irrigated at the end of of May or the beginning of June. For Photographer, it is better to visit there in the middle of June, unless you visit to Jingkeng (Dazhai village), where you could see rape flowers in the fields.

If you have any more questions, please do not hestiate to contact with us.
