Guilin is a well-known tourism city in Southern City. Although many people know Guilin, but how to travel to Guilin becomes a problem to them. Actually, it is very convenient to visit to Guilin.
Guilin is located in Southern China, in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which neighbors to Guangdong Province. It is located 259 miles northwest of Guangzhou. Tourists can easily go to visit Guilin by air, train or bus. It needs about 1hr flight from Guangzhou or
Hong Kong.
Then how to Travel to Guilin from Hong Kong?
By Air
There are two direct flights each day between Guilin and Hong Kong in high season. Although the flights are cut down in low and shoulder season, there are also around 5 flights each week between both cities. One flight is from Dragon Air and Cathy Pacific Airways, the other is from Hong Kong Airways. In this case, it is fairly convenient for tourists to take the direct flight to visit Guilin or connect to their international flights after Guilin tour.
If your international flight cannot connect with the flight between Guilin and Hong Kong, you could fly to Guangzhou or
Shenzhen, then transit a flight to Guilin as there are several flights between Guilin and both cities each day no matter high season or low season.
By Train
There isn’t direct train between Guilin and Hong Kong at all. If you are in Hong Kong or you have stop at Hong Kong, but hope to take train to Guilin, you could travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen or Guangzhou first. After that, you could change
high spee train from both cities to Guilin, which takes about 3-4 hours. It is helpful to reduce your tour cost.
►The transportation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen
1) There are trains between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, which are just like subway. It departs every 10-15 minutes. It is easy and convenient to buy tickets.
2) There are ferries between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. There are around 7 ferries each day from China-Hong Kong Ferry Terminal in Kowloon to Shenzhen Fuyong Ferry Terminal and around 6 ferries between Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal and Shenzhou Shekou Ferry Terminal each day.
►The transportation between Hong Kong and Guangzhou
1) Train: There are more than 10 trains each day from Hong Kong Hung Hom Station to Guangzhou East Railway Station and v.v.
2) Coach: There are shuttle bus between downtown of Hong Kong and downtown of Guangzhou. Tourists could buy the bus tickets and get on the busat Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay or Sheung Wan CTS House. Then when the bus arrives in
Guangzhou, it will stop at some hotels in the downtown, such as Landmark Hotel Guangzhou, Marriott Hotel Guangzhou, White Swan Hotel, ect. You need to double check the stops when you buy the tickets to make sure where to get off it.
When you arrive at both cities, you could take overnight train from Shenzhen or Guangzhou to Guilin.
Besides, from the end of 2014, the high speed train between Guangzhou and Guilin will be open to traffic. After that, you could choose to take high speed train to Guilin. It needs around 4 hours from Guangzhou to Guilin.
